Homemade Catholic Valentine’s Day Cards

We spent the past couple months saving up our crayons that were broken or had seen better days so we could make homemade valentines for their school friends. As we wanted to make 60+ crayons, we also asked some family members to donate their reject crayons. The process to make these homemade heart crayons was very simple and made better by letting young members of the family help!

Supplies Needed:
Crayons
Silicone Heart Molds
Sheet Pan
Tinfoil
Oven

Steps 3 and 7 are best done with little helpers!

  1. Gather crayons. Bonus if they’re broken or not in good shape.

  2. Soak in very hot water with a few drops of dish soap. (Skip this step for any washable crayons in the mix!)

  3. Remove wrappers.

  4. Break apart into small pieces around 1/4 inch in size.

  5. Sort by color. (Muffin tins work great for this purpose.)

  6. Place silicone heart molds on sheet pan covered in tinfoil.

  7. Fill silicone heart molds to the brim.

  8. Melt at 250 degrees for 10 - 15 minutes.

  9. Remove from oven and let cool completely.

  10. Pop out of molds.

  11. Repeat process until you have used all broken crayon pieces.

Package crayons with handwritten cards and Catholic valentine coloring sheets!

** The coloring sheets linked below are formatted in to be 4.5 x 6.5. Print on letter sized card stock. Trim 1 inch off each size. Cut the new 9 x 6.5 sheet of paper in half. Link to similar bags!
